• The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) registered an FIR on July 28, alleging criminal conspiracy and money laundering involving distillery firms and private entities between 2021 and 2025.
• The Supreme Court bench, led by the Chief Justice of India, granted relief citing a change in political climate, noting that the current state administration is distinct from the previous one under which the alleged offences occurred.
• Conditions for the stay of arrest include the surrender of the passport to the investigating officer, a mandate to cooperate fully with the probe, and an injunction against influencing witnesses.
• The court granted the State liberty to approach the bench for the removal of protection against arrest if there is any evidence of non-cooperation or interference with the investigation.
