The Ministry of Jal Shakti's Directorate of Monitoring and Appraisal (M&A) has demanded the return of ₹54.22 crore from the Telangana government.
The amount comprises ₹36.34 crore in Central Assistance released under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) for nine projects, plus accrued interest.
The demand follows a July 2023 request by the state government to drop 11 previously submitted project proposals and reallocate central assistance to nine other projects.
Under PMKSY guidelines, failure to meet project completion timelines necessitates the conversion of released central assistance into a loan to the state government.
