Defence PSUs urged to reduce import dependence

Army acquisitions include: CBRN reconnaissance vehicles, high mobility vehicles (HMVs), self-propelled mechanical mine layers (MMLs), advanced light helicopters (ALHs), trawl tanks, and the Sarvatra Bridge System.
Trawl tanks and the Sarvatra Bridge System are designed to enhance composite crossing capabilities in varied terrains.
Navy acquisitions include: Arudhra radars for air route surveillance and the indigenous design, development, and procurement of marine gas turbines (MGTs) for warship propulsion.
Air Force acquisitions focus on enhancing war-fighting capabilities for fighters, transport aircraft, and helicopters.
Additional approvals include ground-based multi-purpose jammers (GBMPJ) and the Defence Forces Secure Access Card (DEFSAC) system.
The DEFSAC system will replace paper-based identity documents with interoperable radio frequency identification (RFI)-based smart cards.
