ISRO Gaganyaan mission component test

ISRO successfully conducted the first ground test of the solid motor-based Sub-Orbital Launch Vehicle for Experiments (SOLVE) at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
SOLVE serves as a test platform for Gaganyaan mission components, specifically for validating the crew module's deceleration system.
The deceleration system involves the deployment of 10 parachutes to reduce the crew module's velocity before sea splashdown.
Test missions involve carrying the crew module to an altitude of 10 km to 17 km before separation.
The SOLVE solid stage is derived from the PSLV strap-on motor, modified with a slow burn rate propellant and a straight nozzle with secondary injection thrust vector control.
Recent Gaganyaan-related activities include the second Integrated Air Drop Test (IADT-02) and the Mission MITRA behavioural study conducted in Leh.

ISRO successfully conducted three major system-level qualification tests for the Gaganyaan crew module.
Crew Module Uprighting System (CMUS): A cold-gas-based system designed to ensure the crew module remains in an upright position after splashdown in the sea.
CMUS inflation test: Validated the primary inflation module using stored high-pressure gas to inflate floatation devices via control valves.
Umbilical Mechanism Separation: Tested the separation of the CSU-2 mechanism (Service Module side) from the crew module to ensure clean detachment during re-entry.
The umbilical mechanism consists of CSU-1 (Crew Module side) and CSU-2 (Service Module side), facilitating power and propulsion links.
Apex Cover Separation: Validated the structural integrity of the crew module during the separation of the apex cover, which protects parachutes and associated subsystems before deployment.
