• It informs India's strategic positioning as a major producer of affordable generic medicines and a leading provider of South-South health diplomacy.
• Global health frameworks shape domestic public health preparedness against transboundary threats such as emerging zoonotic diseases, pandemic risks, and antimicrobial resistance.
• It offers the structural framework to assess multilateral health bodies, international agreements, and equity mechanisms in global emergency responses.

UPSC typically frames global health within international relations and governance, examining India's role in global health architecture and medical diplomacy. Questions often explore the tension between intellectual property rights regimes under TRIPS and public health access during global emergencies. Candidates are also expected to analyze necessary structural reforms in multilateral health institutions to ensure equitable representation for the Global South.
