UPSC routinely evaluates the comparative efficacy and strategic utility of overlapping groupings, such as SAARC versus BIMSTEC or the SCO versus the Quad. Questions focus on institutional paralysis caused by bilateral friction, sub-regional connectivity initiatives, and how India balances strategic autonomy across diverse blocs. Candidates are expected to analyze the interplay between regional economic integration and prevailing geopolitical realignments.
