Notes

• India and China have agreed to establish two additional Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) as per an eight-point outcome document from the 25th round of Special Representatives (SR) talks.
• Current active BPM points (5): Daulat Beg Oldie and Chushul (Ladakh), Nathu La (Sikkim), Kibithu and Bum La (Arunachal Pradesh).
• Kepang La in Arunachal Pradesh is under consideration as a potential new BPM site, with local commander-level meetings already held there.
• BPM mechanism serves as an interface for local commanders to resolve issues, foster confidence, and maintain peace and tranquility along the LAC.
• The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is the primary force for border guarding, while the Army holds operational responsibility in most disputed areas.
• Concerns have been raised regarding access to specific patrolling points and the impact of restricted zones on local communities in border regions.
